At Glenmore we recognize that students have more to contend with than their studies. Sometimes there can be issues such as illness, marriage breakdown, friendship problems and abuse and financial hardship, which can make it difficult to be engaged with education.
As part of the student support staff, the chaplain provides emotional and spiritual assistance. Further to this the chaplain is also available to staff and students’ families for confidential assistance. (Sometimes the Chaplain will refer you on to a community agency for specialist help.)
When students visit the Chaplain, they find a relaxing environment where they can think clearly and speak openly. Most students are permitted to bring a friend to their appointments.
The primary goal is the safety and well-being of each student. The chaplain also celebrates with students when they achieve in or outside of class.
The chaplain continues to help Glenmore students participate in the World Vision 40 hour famine project each year.
Information on holiday activities such as Christian camps is also available.
Chaplain Alan Brown is available Monday to Wednesday at the High School and Thursday and Friday at the Primary school. Students and families can make appointments at the office.
