Glenmore High School treats harassment and bullying very seriously. Click on this link to download our policy in this area: Anti-Harassment / Anti-Bullying Policy.
Here are some of the key points of our policy. The complete version of our policy can be downloaded from the link above.
We all have the right to learn in a safe and supportive school environment that values diversity – an environment free from bullying, harassment, discrimination and violence.
We all have the right to be treated with fairness and dignity.
We all have a responsibility to keep others safe and to treat them in the same way – with fairness, dignity and respect.
Harassment and bullying is unlawful. We treat these very seriously at this School.
WHAT CAN YOU DO IF YOU ARE BEING HARASSED OR BULLIED?
If you believe you are being harassed or bullied, your options are to:
- tell the person who is harassing you that you don’t like it and that you want it to stop
- talk it over with your parents
- discuss what you should do with one of the School’s Harassment Referral Officers, the support staff or a teacher you feel comfortable with
- report it to the School Based Police Officer
- report it to a teacher, Head of Department, Year Level Co-ordinator, Chaplain, Deputy Principal or Principal
- make a complaint to the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Commission
When you make a formal complaint to your Principal, District Director or Director-General of Education, they will:
- listen to you
- keep what you say private
- talk to you about what can be done – obtaining your opinion on the best course of action
This action could be taken on your behalf:
- separate meetings with you and the harasser to hear both versions
- a meeting with you and the harasser together to resolve the situation, if you desire it
- a group meeting of peers
- a meeting involving you and your parents, the harasser and his/her parents
- counselling or disciplining the harasser
- support for you as the complainant
