Vocational education

Glenmore State High School offers a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) opportunities for our students.

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO No: 30066), students are able to enrol and complete a Certificate I in Business, Certificate II in Business or a Certificate II in Workplace Practices while studying at school.  Students also have the opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Fitness, through our partnership with Binnacle Training.  All of these courses are completed on-site during regular timetabled classes.

All students enrolled in a VET course through Glenmore State High School are required to complete a VET Induction. If students think they may already have the skills and knowledge being assessed in their VET course, they will be able to apply for Recognition of Prior Knowledge.  Student induction materials are available from the Additional resources for students and parents section.

Any students who are not satisfied with the training they received at Glenmore State High School or disagree with the assessment decisions are able to submit a complaint as per our Complaints and Appeals Procedure (PDF, 146 KB).

External RTOs

Students also have the opportunity to complete other VET courses through external RTOs. These may include (but are not limited to):

  • Certificate II in Self Awareness and Development
  • Certificate I in Construction
  • Certificate II in Engineering Pathways
  • Certificate II in Kitchen Operations
  • Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics
  • Certificate II in Tourism
  • Certificate III in Beauty
  • Certificate III in Children's Services

School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs)

Some students may prefer to combine working in their chosen industry and studying at school by completing a SAT. Glenmore State High School students have completed a range of SATs including:
  • Certificate III in Business
  • Certificate II in Retail
  • Certificate III in Hospitality
  • Certificate II Health Support Services

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

From 1 January 2015, all VET students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) before a Statement of Attainment or Qualification can be awarded. Students need to apply for their USI at usi.gov.au and give a copy of this number to staff in B Block staffroom for recording.
