Yadaba Nunthi

Darumbal for 'Respect Country', Yadaba Nunthi is a gateway for students who are looking at future employment opportunities within the Conservation, Horticulture and Agriculture industries.

Offered to students from within the Rockhampton state secondary schools cluster, the training will be undertaken one day each week over the course of the year.

Students will engage in on Country experiences with Elders from Darumbal, and learn about conservation practices to preserve our country for future generations.

The training will provide a number of employable skills for various future pathways, whilst learning about and preserving Country.

Mount Etna Caves National Park

On Wednesdays, students will work alongside Queensland Parks and Wildlife Rangers in their conservation efforts of the surrounding bushland of Mt Etna Caves to support the conservation of the endangered Ghost Bats and vulnerable little Bent-Wing Bats. Students will learn around the native flora and fauna, and track native animal activities.

Mount Archer (Nurim) National Park

On alternate Wednesdays, students will continue conservation work on top of Nurim, liaising with the traditional owners of the land, our Durumbal people.

Students will attain the below Nationally Recognised VET Qualifications:

  • AHC21020 Certificate II in Conservation & Ecosystem Management
  • OPTIONAL: Second year engagement to complete CHC24015 Certificate II or CHC34015 Certificate III in Active Volunteering

Additional employability short courses included in program:

  • White Card Course (CPCCWHS1001 - Prepare to work safely in the construction industry)
  • Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Remote Pilot Licence (RePL)
  • First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid)
  • CPR Certificate (HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • OPTIONAL: Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card - Volunteer status)
