A school chaplain is a safe person for children and teens to connect with at school, providing a listening ear and caring presence. They care for students struggling with a wide range of issues, including: family problems, confusing relationships, friendship issues, peer pressure, self-esteem issues, bullying, anxiety and depression.
Chaplains run positive, fun activities for children and teens both in and out of school, and foster a supportive, caring school community.
This includes support for at-risk students, support for staff and families from the wider school community, and spiritual support and direction for the school community when requested.
Glenmore's School-based SU Australia Chaplain is Mattea Holliday, who joined us in 2021. Mattea loves seeing young people realise their own passions and opportunities to become the best versions of themselves. Fondly known as Chappy, Mattea is available on school campus on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and welcomes all who visit her. She is located in the Administration building in a shared break-out space with our Youth Support Coordinator (YSC).
