Dear Parents/Carers,

From 6pm Thursday 28 April 2022, the Chief Health Officer relaxed the quarantine requirements for people who are close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases.

Changes to quarantine requirements for close contacts

Under the new arrangements, close contacts are no longer required to quarantine with the COVID-positive household member, as long as they:
  • Do not have COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Test negative every second day for a week from the day of becoming a close contact (day 0, 2, 4 and 6). A self-test using a RAT kit will be allowed, testing does not need to occur at a testing clinic
  • Wear a mask outside of home for 7 day.
  • Do not visit any vulnerable settings (hospitals, residential aged care facilities, disability accommodation services, corrective services facilities and detention centres) for 7 days.
Close contacts who have symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to test and to isolate until symptoms resolve, even if a negative RAT result is returned.

We expect our Glenmore State High School community to follow the directives of the Chief Health Officer. We do not require students to submit their negative RAT tests to us or to inform us if they are a close contact. We do expect students to be wearing a face mask at all times (inside and outside of the classroom) if they fall in to the category outlined above.

If students or staff test positive to COVID-19

The Queensland Health rules that apply to people who test positive to COVID-19 remain unchanged. Students or staff who test positive will need to immediately isolate at home for at least 7 full days from the date of the test.

Please notify our administration team either via phone call or email if your student tests positive to COVID-19.

Continuing to Learn at Home

For students who are not feeling too unwell, we encourage these students to continue to learn at home by engaging with our Department of Education’s learning@home resources.

Students can also continue to work on their assessments at home.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact our administration team on 4923 0333 or email absences@glenmoreshs.eq.edu.au.

Yours sincerely,
Brendan Shannon
Principal
